Mason's Farmers' Market Every Wednesday, April 22 - October 2009 ~ 11:30AM to 3:30PM North Plaza (between Johnson Center and Robinson Hall), Fairfax Campus -(map)
On Wednesday, Aug. 19, Smart Markets at Mason — featuring sustainable and locally produced food and produce — will be held on the Johnson Center North Plaza on the Fairfax Campus. Vendors will be on the plaza each Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. through Oct. 28.
Special upcoming events: Sept. 2 - Smart Markets at Mason is participating in welcoming new students to the Mason Nation during the university-wide Welcome Week celebration. Sept. 23 - Smart Markets at Mason celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and Fall for the Book by offering a taste of Hispanic cultural foods and information about Hispanic culture. This event is sponsored with the Office of Diversity Programs and Services. Oct. 7 - Human Resources offers Lunch and Learn in conjunction with Smart Markets at Mason. Oct. 21 - Smart Markets at Mason celebrates National Vegetarian Month by offering information about different vegetarian dishes. Smart Markets at Mason recently placed ninth overall and third in the small market category in the national “America’s Favorite Farmers Market Contest.” More than 800 markets competed. The project is managed through University Services working with Smart Markets, Inc. who assists with managing Farmers’ Markets throughout Northern Virginia.
