Mason Volunteers Across the Nation

Mason Across the Nation alumni are invited to assist students with the spring Alternative Break program. Volunteer and/or social opportunities are available on March 14 in Lebanon, PA; Stuart, FL; New Orleans, LA; Dallas, TX; St. Elizabeth, Jamaica; New York, NY. Deadline to register is March 3.

Family Game Watching Party

On March 1, from 1:45-4:30 p.m., Mason families will gather at Hard Times Café in Fairfax for food and fun and to root for the Patriots against Northeastern.  The price includes chili dog buffet, snacks, and use of the pool tables. The game will be broadcast on multiple big screen TVs. Cost: $11.50 per adult and $8.00 per child.

NCC Career Networking Mixer

Please join fellow NCC alumni on March 4, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for career networking with students and faculty.  Alumni will mentor current students on the best ways to market themselves to employers by highlighting key aspects of a degree in Integrative Studies.  Students will be provided with an opportunity to ask questions and to speak one-on-one with alumni. Alumni Invited to Estonia Anniversary Concert

The Tõnu Naissoo Jazz Quartet, with vocalist Anna Põldvee, will perform at the Fairfax Campus on Tuesday, February 26, at 8 p.m. in Harris Theater.   Camille Barry, MSN ’86, PhD ’92, and her husband, Tanel Beeren, facilitated the arrangements for this free concert at Mason, which was organized by the Foreign Mission of Estonia. Tickets are free and may be picked up at the Center for the Arts Box Office.

See the Cherry Blossoms By Bike

Please join fellow Alumni Association members on April 6, for a “Bike the Sites” tour of the Cherry Blossoms in DC.  This tour is rated “easy” for level of difficulty and is an excellent way to see the beautiful blossoms around the Potomac Tidal Basin and East Potomac Park.  Bring out the family for this popular Washington DC event. Deadline to sign up is March 28.

Each semester, the English Department welcomes distinguished visiting writers in poetry, fiction and nonfiction for creative writing workshops and public readings.  The workshops are free and open to alumni and the Mason community.

Larranaga Earns 400th Career Win as Mason Beats Delaware

The George Mason men's basketball team wasn't firing on all cylinders on Wednesday night but it didn't need all its horsepower as the Patriots used solid defense and a big-time rebounding advantage to beat the Delaware Blue Hens, 70-58 in Colonial Athletic Association action. The win marked the 400th of George Mason head coach Jim Larranaga's career and it allowed the Patriots to improve to 12-1 at home on the season and remain in a tie for second place in the CAA.

Mason Wrestlers Earn Highest Win Total in 16 Years

With a 37-12 thrashing of the Delaware State Hornets on Sunday afternoon at the Fieldhouse, the George Mason wrestling team earned its 13th victory of the season, matching its highest win total since the 1991-92 season, when the Patriots won their first of five CAA titles. Mason has now won its past four meets and six of its past seven.

Women's Track and Field Scores at Tyson Invitational

Junior Murielle Ahoure finished in 10th place amongst a group of world class sprinters at the Tyson Invitational, held on Jan. 15-16 at the Randal Tyson Track Complex on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. Ahoure crossed the finish line in 7.35 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter dash.

Mason alumni are invited to hit the road with their Patriots as they participate in the CAA Basketball Championship March 7-10 at the Richmond Coliseum.
