Alumna/History Student Archives the Past at Holocaust Museum People tell Rebecca Erbelding secrets that they won't even tell their spouses, their siblings or their children. As an archivist for the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., the Mason alumna with an MA in History, is a current doctoral student, and gets to hear many of the survivors' stories firsthand. Others she gleans from the mementos - diaries, journals, photographs - that arrive in the mail each day and fill her office. These artifacts tell the personal histories of Holocaust survivors, and in her role of archivist, she is often the first person to see the donations that come into the museum.Read More > |

coauthor of a new book titled "Terminal Chaos: Why U.S. Air
Travel Is Broken and How to Fix It." Researchers at Mason's
Center for Air Transportation Systems Research have been analyzing this
problem, which has been brewing for several decades. |

New Center Charts Course for School Leadership Gone are the days when
school leaders were simply managers. As schools face high-stakes
challenges of improving student performance and reducing achievement
gaps in learning, leaders have a new set of demands. To respond to this
evolving role, Mason's College of Education and Human Development
(CEHD) is spearheading an effort to create a professional development
center for school leaders in the region: The Northern Virginia School
Leadership Center (NVSLC). Partners for the effort include Alexandria
City, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William County Public
Schools. |

Newest Robinson Professor Sees History as 'A Great Connector' Spencer Crew, the newest Robinson Professor at Mason, has been a public historian for much of his career, often focusing on African American history. Before joining the university, Crew headed the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.Read More > |

Blood Flow Simulation System Unveiled by Mason Researchers Researchers
at Mason's Center for Computational Fluid Dynamics recently
unveiled a first-of-its-kind patient-specific blood flow simulation
system that was assembled by Philips Medical Systems using software
components developed at Mason. The cutting-edge technology has the
potential to improve diagnostics and treatments for millions of
Americans affected by brain aneurysms - saclike bulges in the
blood vessels - each year.

Mason Athletics Receives NACMA Award The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) has selected its 2007-08 award winners and George Mason received the Silver award in promotional/schedule poster-basketball. Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. The Mason athletic marketing and promotions department accepted their award during NACMA's 17th Annual Convention in Dallas, Texas. |

Two Patriots Compete in NCAA Track and Field Nationals Two George Mason
student-athletes competed for the NCAA title among the nation's best as
junior Murielle Ahoure and senior Ryan McCoy participated in the
Outdoor Track and Field National Championships that took place at Drake
Stadium in Des Moines from June 11- 14. Ahoure competed in the
100-meter and 200-meter dash, while McCoy contested the triple jump. |
