Alumnus Recognized for Avalanche Rescue
Alumnus Matt Murphy, BA English ’97, has a very unusual job. Although his official job title is forestry technician for the Alaska Region Forest Service, Murphy spends a good part of each year serving as a snow ranger and predicting avalanches at the Chugach National Forest in Alaska. MORE>

University Passes $100 Million Research Milestone

George Mason University has surpassed $100 million in sponsored research expenditures for fiscal year 2009, marking a 25 percent growth compared to 2008 and a 45 percent increase compared to 2007. MORE>


Mason and Georgetown Launch Joint Bioscience Degrees

Scheduled to launch in the fall of 2010, the new education initiative known as “George Squared,” will provide students at both schools with access to two new education options — the Joint Certificate for Advanced Biomedical Science and the Special Master’s Program. MORE>
