How do I join the George Mason University Alumni Association?
Once you graduate you automatically become an alumnus and a member of The George Mason University Alumni Association. Once a patriot, always a patriot. By keeping your contact information current with the Office of Alumni Affairs and updating the Directory, we can ensure you receive information about the Association's events and activities.
How can I update my contact information?
If you move, let us know. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 703-993-8696 to update your contact information. Once in the Directory you can provide us with your home and work information, your phone number and email address. In addition, you can use the Directory to search for your friends and set up a forwarding email address.
How can I stay connected to Mason if I move outside of the Washington D.C. area?
Update your mailing address, email, and phone number. When we host events around the country (or even in Virginia, for that matter), we email based on your zip code. If neither one of these are up to date, we can’t let you know what’s going on. Mason alumni are increasingly moving outside of the area and various groups have begun to gather in cities across the United States. For a complete list of clubs outside the area visit our Regional Clubs page. Don’t forget, the Alumni Association is on Facebook and keeps you up to date on upcoming events. What benefits does the Alumni Association offer?
The Alumni Association has partnered with various companies who provide discounts on products and services for Mason graduates. Whether alumni are seeking Mason products or automobile insurance, Mason alumni have special opportunities to save because of their affiliation with the institution. More importantly, the Alumni Association is your lifelong connection to Mason and greater alumni community. Most alumni find the greatest benefit by getting involved with their Chapter.
How do I learn about events and activities that the Alumni Association is planning?
The Alumni Association's website is updated daily with a variety of information for alumni. Visit the website regularly and you can learn about various activities and benefits. By making sure we have your current email address you will receive the MasonWire, the monthly e-newsletter which highlights news of the Alumni Association, the University, and Mason athletics. When you keep your household mailing address up-to-date, you will also receive the Mason Spirit magazine with greater in depth coverage of alumni and university news.
How long can I use HireMason?
Forever! As long as you register on HireMason before graduation and keep your profile up-to-date, you may use it indefinitely for free. First time registration costs $10 for those who graduated more than six months ago. Register now with Career Services.
How long can I continue to get assistance from Career Services as an alumnus?
All alumni are welcome to attend job fairs, career workshops, networking events, and informational sessions hosted by Career Services throughout their career, free of charge. Recent graduates may see their career counselor and/or industry advisor for up to six months after graduation at no cost. After six months, there is a three session limit and an hourly fee. How long can I keep my Mason e-mail address after graduation?
Alumni who graduated in the Fall of 2010 or later will continue to have access to their lifetime MASONLIVE email. MASONLIVE account holders must access their email, and other LIVE@edu features, directly from the Window's Live website, http://login.live.com. If you don’t plan to keep using MASONLIVE, make sure to set up email forwarding or otherwise tell us how we can keep in touch. For those alumni who graduated prior to Fall 2010, the Alumni Association offers a lifetime email forwarding service by registering with the MASONline Alumni Directory.
How do I get involved and stay connected as a Mason Alumnus?
- Join our LinkedIn group, titled George Mason University Alumni Association (Official).
- Join our Facebook group – Mason Alumni Association.
- Network with Mason alumni and supporters on the Mason Career Link.
- Become a Mason Alumni Ambassador and help bring new students to Mason.
