40 Years of George Mason University: A Legacy of Leadership

In April 2012, George Mason University celebrated its 40th anniversary as an independent institution with a gala event. The evening included many special moments including speakers spanning four decades of university history; presentations by Mason's nationally recognized Forensics team; music performances by the Green Machine, Mason's Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble; and the presentation of the Alumni Association Golden Medallion for Exceptional Service to Dr. Merten.

The program took attendees on a historic journey that traced the history of George Mason University and reflected the pride the entire Mason community feels today. The university greatly appreciates the support of the evening's sponsors, including the Alumni Association and all gala attendees.
