With 128 different countries represented at Mason, International Week gives students, faculty, and staff members a chance to experience cultures they may not know much about.

- MARK GRADY, DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF LAW, has announced plans to step down in August. He will remain on the law school faculty. "Mark Grady leaves the School of Law deanship with a record of tremendous accomplishment," says Provost Peter Stearns. Grady has served as dean for seven years.

- A NEW LOGO FOR GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY has been unveiled by the Office of University Relations. The current logo, developed in 1982, represented the University "when [it] was a very different place," says Helen Ackerman, VP of University Relations. The official launch is set for September.

- THE NEW CENTER FOR SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH (CSSR) has been established in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) to "provide a platform that brings together social science theories and methods, applying them to some of the most pressing social, behavioral, and political problems facing contemporary U.S. society," according to the center's mission statement.

- LAW ALUMNI CHAPTER HOSTS ANNUAL JLR RECEPTION on Wednesday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. The GMU School of Law and the GMU Law Alumni Chapter will host their 7th Annual Judicial and Legislative Reception at the School of Law in Arlington. The reception features music and wine from across the Commonwealth. This is the premier legal event in Northern Virginia and all are welcome. - MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH JIM LARRANAGA HAS SIGNED A CONTRACT EXTENSION through the 2008-09 season, Tom O'Connor, assistant vice president and director of athletics, announced. "I love George Mason University and have since the day I arrived," said Larranaga.

- WOMEN'S LACROSSE TEAM MOVED UP ONE SPOT TO #19 in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) top 20 and Warrior/Inside Lacrosse polls, released April 12. It marks the third consecutive week the Patriots have been ranked in the top 20. Princeton continues to headline the rankings, followed by Notre Dame and Loyola.

- BASEBALL TEAM IS RANKED NATIONALLY IN SEVERAL CATEGORIES. The season is half over for the George Mason baseball team and the Patriots are on track to see several individual and team offensive records broken this year. The prowess they have demonstrated on the field has translated into some impressive national rankings, as the NCAA released its first statistical report on April 13.
