CHSS 3rd Annual Dean's Tailgate The College of Humanities and Social Sciences will hold its 3rd annual Dean's Tailgate on Saturday, January 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Mason Hall Alumni Atrium, prior to the men's basketball game against James Madison. he graduates later this year, senior Jeff Brown can say that while he
was at Mason his team beat the Russians–-that would be in
chess, not some other sport. President of Mason's chess club, Brown
considers a recent match against star chess players from Kazan

Barnes & Noble Mason
has received a $1 million gift from Barnes & Noble College
Booksellers Inc., supporting the Basketball Practice Facility
Construction Fund, Intercollegiate Athletic scholarships, the
University Life Fund, the Undergraduate Research Fund, and Fall for the

Permanent RAK Campus Construction to Begin in 2009 Mason provost Peter Stearns has announced "a
definite agreement" with the government of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) in the
United Arab Emirates to construct permanent student and faculty housing
and academic buildings for the Mason RAK Campus. MORE> |

The 3,200-acre National Zoological Park
Conservation and Research Center (CRC) became home last spring to 15
Mason students who spent the semester there as part of the
Smithsonian-Mason Semester. The innovative program provides students
exposure to some of the most prominent research scientists, educators,

Patriots Win Over Drexel in CAA Men's Basketball Opener Mason's men's basketball team built a 17-point lead early in the second half behind a 17-4 run, then had to hold off Drexel down the stretch as the Dragons had the game's final possession with a chance to win. In the end, Mason escaped Daskalakis Athletic Center with a 56-55 win. It's the sixth time in the past seven years Mason has won its Colonial Athletic Association opener. MORE>

Baseball Has Two on Player of the Year Watch List Two Mason players made the cut on the 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award preseason watch list. Senior outfield Scott Krieger and junior first baseman Justin Bour are among the nation's top players heading into the season. MORE>
