School of Management Speaker Series on Outsourcing
The School of Management will host the One Step Ahead: Hot Topics in Technology Management Speaker Series on March 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Mason Hall on the Fairfax Campus as it presents "Heading Back to Shore? An Updated Look at Outsourcing." The panel will explore the current state of outsourcing from a variety of innovative perspectives.

Alumni Association Hosts Gathering in Denver
The Alumni Association invites Denver-area alumni to gather on March 22 at Sing Sing for a unique night of entertainment. This interactive night includes audience requests and dueling pianos with a twist of comedy. Attendees can meet other Mason Alumni in the area and participate in a raffle to win prizes.

History & Art History Alumni Chapter Hosts Visit to Historic Mount Vernon
On March 31, the History & Art History Alumni Chapter will host a tour of George Washington's Mount Vernon with a special lecture by Dr. Peter Henriques, retired Mason professor and author of the book, George Washington, Realistic Visionary. New York City Area Alumni Invited to Networking Mixer
The Oxonian Society is pleased to invite George Mason University alumni in the New York City area to shake off the cold New York winter with the first Mixer of 2007 on April 5 at the PM Lounge. The Oxonian Society is dedicated to provocative discussion and debate with the world's best and most interesting minds, and is a Manhattan-based apolitical non-profit organization.

The Climate Project Comes to Mason
Recently, Susie Crate, an anthropologist by training and assistant professor of human ecology in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at Mason, had the opportunity to participate in The Climate Project, a training workshop developed by Al Gore, former vice president of the United States. Crate was selected from more than 10,000 applicants.

Theater Professor Davis to Discuss Adaptation in Vision Series Lecture
Rick Davis will present "Words into Music. Or, How an Old Play Becomes a New Opera" in the next Vision Series lecture on Monday, March 19, at 8 p.m. at the Center for the Arts Concert Hall. A reception follows the lecture. Davis, along with a company of actors and musicians, will demonstrate how he and composer Kim D. Sherman have approached their new operatic adaptation of "Love's Comedy," an early work by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen.

National Survey Measures Mason Student Engagement
Each year the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) collects information from undergraduates at colleges and universities from around the country, including Mason. This is done to gauge how engaged specific student populations are in an assortment of educational and social activities. In all, the survey results highlighted the Mason student population as willing to take on responsibility and eager to progress as academics.

Mason's Endowment Tops $50 Million
Through an influx of endowment gifts, coupled with positive market returns, the value of the George Mason University Foundation endowment topped $51.5 million at the end of 2006. "This is a significant milestone," said foundation Chair Albert Dwoskin. "Growing a strong endowment is critical to providing a solid financial base, one that enables the university to carry out its mission for years to come."

Norwood, Thomas, Campbell Earn Basketball Honors
Mason senior Gabe Norwood was awarded the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) most prestigious honor when he received the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award, becoming the third Patriot to earn the honor. Also earning awards from the CAA were Folarin Campbell and Will Thomas. Campbell was named to third-team All-CAA while Thomas was chosen second-team All-CAA as well as being selected to the CAA All-Defensive Team.

McCoy Earns All-America Status in Triple Jump
With a leap of 15.66 meters (51 ft. 4.5 in.) in the triple jump at the 2007 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark., Ryan McCoy (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) placed eighth in the event, earning the senior All-America status for the second time in his career.

Bour, Fournier, Krieger Set School Baseball Records
The two, three and four hitters in the George Mason baseball team's lineup have been on an unprecedented hot streak of late and each managed to either tie, set or break a school record in last Saturday's 18-4 win at Hofstra, Mason's fifth straight victory and sixth-straight game scoring in double figures. The Patriots also tied a school record with seven home runs on Saturday.

Softball Claims Two Victories in Final Day of Mason Invite
After collecting a combined total of 23 runs and 21 hits in two games, Mason's softball team pushed its overall record to 7-6 Sunday afternoon in the final day of the Mason Invitational at George Mason Field. The Patriots first defeated Brown by a score of 5-2 and then claimed an 18-8 victory over Morgan State.
