Greek Alumni Reception

Mason and Inova Health System Forge New Research Collaboration

After more than nine years of partnership on groundbreaking research on obesity, liver disease and cancer, Inova Health System has provided Mason $1 million to create the Inova Life Sciences Research Collaboration fund – GMU to stimulate and enhance collaborative research in the life sciences. Mertens Endow Creative Writing Scholarship

Mason President Alan Merten and his wife, Sally Merten, have created a new endowed scholarship in creative writing and named it in honor of her parents, G. Louise and Anthony J. Otto. MORE>



Mason Launches Master of Public Health Degree

The new Master of Public Health, launching in the fall of 2009, will address shortages within the Commonwealth by preparing an estimated 100 graduates per year to respond to disasters and improve the health of vulnerable populations. The degree is the only one of its kind to be offered in Northern Virginia. MORE>



New Course Encourages Students to Think Critically About Language

Students enrolled in Jennifer Leeman’s new class, "Multilingualism, Identity and Power," are attempting to answer how multilingual families use the languages they know and how these languages relate to their identities. MORE>



Virginia's First Master's Program in Computer Forensics

Mason has received approval from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia to offer a new Master of Science in Computer Forensics, the only master’s program of its kind in the Commonwealth of Virginia. MORE>

 


Mason Offers Summer Camps and Programs for Alumni and Community Members

Potomac Arts Academy offers classes in the arts to community members of all ages, from toddlers to senior citizens. The classes are taught by faculty members and graduate students in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, as well as professionals from the community. POTOMAC ACADEMY CLASSES>

Men's Volleyball Alumni Weekend

On Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21, Mason Men’s Volleyball will host an Alumni Weekend that celebrates the 1984 team's 25th anniversary of the program's first Final Four appearance.



Baseball Early Pick for #1 in CAA

Southeastern Baseball has named the George Mason Patriots as the team to beat in the Colonial Athletic Association, while College Baseball Insider has named outfielder Scott Krieger preseason Second-Team All-American and first baseman Justin Bour as preseason honorable mention All-American. Student-Athlete Named to Canadian National Lacrosse Team

Mason senior Alana Chan was one of 18 players chosen to represent the Canadian National Team at the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic, June 18-27. MORE>



Tovuujav Named Most Outstanding Wrestler at CAA Championships

Freshman Mendbagana Tovuujav earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors at the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Championships after upsetting Alton Lucas of Hofstra in overtime in the 174-pound championship bout in Chesapeake, Virginia. MORE>
