From the Campus Scene
There were no shovels in sight on Tuesday at the "groundbreaking" for the new Art and Visual Technology building on the Fairfax Campus. Instead, participants were invited to pick up a brush or a marker and be creative. The new 88,000-square-foot building is expected to be completed in 2009.

Vision Series Lectures Alumni are invited to join faculty, staff, and students on December 3, at 8:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall to hear Fred Bemak, Director Diversity Research and Action Center, speak on A Generation in Jeopardy: Today’s Youth, Tomorrow’s Future. The lecture is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Call for Award Nominations For more than 30 years, the Alumni Association has honored individuals who have enhanced Mason’s reputation through their outstanding achievements. Please nominate someone you know who is worthy of recognition for the Alumnus of the Year Award or the Alumni Service Award. Nominations are also sought for the Faculty Member of the Year Award. The deadline for submissions is February 11, 2008. |

Student Leaders Invite Alumni to Celebrate Anniversaries Mason students have planned an anniversary celebration for Saturday, November 17, and invite alumni to participate. The celebration will commemorate the university’s 35th anniversary as an independent institution and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the George Mason College.
