Alumni Profile: Lt Col Chris Possehl, BS '88
In
April 2010, Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Chris Possehl, BS ’88,
deployed to Afghanistan as part of the Laghman Provincial
Reconstruction Team. The unit, composed of active duty, reserve, and
guard service members from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army, was tasked
with supporting the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
at the provincial level in creating stability and providing assistance
to local civilians.
Over the summer, Possehl contacted the
Alumni Association to share his story. He proudly wore his Mason hat
throughout his deployment and graciously sent an American flag to the
Alumni Affairs team that had flown over his base in Afghanistan.
“We've been blessed with a great
deal of support and love from family, friends and those of the greater
GMU family,” Possehl said. His unit is expected to return home
before Thanksgiving and he is planning to move to a new duty station in
Colorado Springs, CO.
For stories, photos, and more about Possehl and the Laghman Provincial Reconstruction Team, visit their facebook page.
The
George Mason University Alumni Association would like to thank all
those who are serving in the Armed Forces and remembers you as Veterans
Day approaches on November 11.
