Join the Mason Student Body at a
legislative advocacy day tradition: Mason Lobbies 2017. Support Mason
students as they "lobby" for the upcoming year's needs and objectives.
A tentative "Schedule of Events" can be found here.
Buses from Fairfax - Mason Students, and alumni who live in Northern
Virginia, are welcome to ride on the charter buses to
Richmond from the Fairfax campus. Check-in will begin at the Fairfax Campus at 5:30am and buses will
leave at 6:00am. It is mandatory for undergraduate participants to ride
the buses down to Richmond. Space is limited, so please register soon; lunch is provided to those riding the bus back to Fairfax.
Parking in Richmond - The area around Capitol
Square is very busy when the General Assembly is in Session, so parking
is not quite as straightforward as you may be used to in downtown RVA.
Also, you'll need to go through security at the Bank Street entrance to
enter the Capitol, so plan enough time to navigate into the building as
well. Suggested parking lots:
- St. Paul's Church Garage (111 N. 8th Street)
- 700 Centre Garage (112 N. 8th Street)
- Library of Virginia Garage (800 E. Broad Street; entrances on both 8th & 9th Streets)
- Carpenter Center Lot (600 E. Grace Street)
- Richmond Convention Center Garages/Surface Lots (link to map; the Capitol Square is int he bottom right-hand corner of the map)
NOTE FOR STUDENTS: The annual cost of this event per student participant is at least $35-40 every year. As such, by submitting this form you understand that the university is making an investment in you to go to Richmond and appropriately convey your Mason story to state legislators. Thus by registering, you are committing to attend the event on Wednesday, January 25, 2016. If you find that you can no longer attend the event, you must notify us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org at least five (5) business days prior to the event so that we can open your spot up to another student who might be on the waiting list.
