Volunteer Information

Volunteering can be an enriching and rewarding experience. Volunteers list many benefits of their service: the joy of giving back and helping others, personal growth, social connections and the opportunity to explore new professional paths.

As an alumni volunteer, you can give of yourself how and when you choose. Help with a specific program, serve on a committee or chair an event. With so many programs and commitment levels available, you'll find just the right opportunity for you.

Alumni Admissions Network
The Office of Alumni Affairs and the Office of Admissions are currently looking for alumni volunteers to get involved in the university admissions process in the following areas: New England, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, California, Texas, Ohio, Florida, and Georgia. The Alumni Admissions Network gives you the opportunity to recruit and contact students in your area. You can represent Mason at a local college fair, interview a prospective student, offer a recommendation, or even host a student reception in your hometown. Become an Annual Giving Donor
Alumni are encouraged to designate a portion of their Annual Giving donation to the Alumni Association to support its activities and programs. For more information, visit the Supporting Mason website or call the Mason Foundation at (703) 993-8850.

Career Network Online

Center for Leadership and Community Engagement
The Center for Leadership & Community Engagement promotes positive change and civic engagement by combining academic study, leadership development and direct community service. CLCE is your resource at Mason for leadership education and service-learning initiatives. Alumni wishing to learn more about CLCE or wanting to find community volunteer opportunities can visit the Center online.

Honor Mason Alumni

Nominate University alumni and friends for Mason Alumni Association Awards. Help ensure a wide pool of nominees for these prestigious honors, including the Alumnus/a of of the Year Award.

Host a Dinner for 12 Patriots

Students, faculty and staff enjoy small dinner parties together, hosted by alumni volunteers. Dinner hosts can meet new people and make valuable contacts as they provide a great meal. Learn more and sign up here.

Law Mentoring Program
A network of law alumni who are matched with law students to serve as informal advisors during their first year of law school. Call the GMUSL Office of Career Services at (703) 993-8020 for more information.

Mason Speakers

Do you enjoy public speaking? Can others benefit from your knowledge of a particular topic? If so, be sure to join Mason Speakers, a community outreach program that provides expert speakers to businesses, schools, libraries, homeowner associations, and civic organizations in Northern Virginia. The program started in 1993 and currently boasts more than 100 faculty, staff, and alumni speakers who participate on a volunteer basis. Are you curious about how best to get involved? Let us help you find an opportunity that suits your skills, interests and schedule. Fill out and return the Volunteer Assessment Form, designed to help identify your talents and needs. Return the survey to the Alumni Association, and we will help place you in the volunteer opportunity that is right for you.

Become more involved by joining the Mason Alumni volunteer listserv! Whether you are interested in volunteering on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, stay informed with the happenings of the Alumni Association by subscribing to the volunteer listserv. By joining, you will receive periodic calls for volunteers for different events throughout the year.
