Here for you, here for each other |
First and foremost, I hope you and loved ones are safe and well. I want you to know that we are here to support you in whatever way you need. The past few weeks have highlighted the best of our community and all the ways we are here for each other. It is hard to believe that last month we announced the upcoming name change for our school. Since our last note, we shifted entirely to virtual instruction and remote work for our administrative team. I am incredibly proud of the collaboration and problem-solving creativity that our team demonstrated—it positioned us for success through this next phase. This monthly news and events update will look a little different, featuring virtual dissertation defenses and a story about how our transition to online classes went. But the 'new normal' is also our normal. We invite you to learn more about alumni facilitator and trainer opportunities at Point of View and preview our new Carter School logo! The challenges and shifts of the past few weeks have been overwhelming. I am overwhelmed by the determination and care shown within our community. I am overwhelmed by the generosity of over 1,600 donors to the Patriots Helping Patriots initiative that will provide $270,000 of funding directly to our students in crisis. Thank you for all the ways you make our School great. We look forward to the better days to come! Yours sincerely, Alpaslan Özerdem Dean |

PhD students and faculty work together to take courses from lecture hall to virtual classroom When Ziad Al Achkar and Fatma Jabbari, PhD students and GTAs, learned that they and their colleagues would have only an extra week of extended spring break to move their coursework online, they did what academics do best when confronted with unexpected and novel information: study, research, and test.

Carter School seeks alumni to join roster of facilitators and trainers Since POV was inaugurated in 2016, a wide variety of organizations, delegations, and companies have sought out the facility to host workshops, trainings, dialogues, and retreats, often counting on its views of Belmont Bay and quiet, wooded pathways to spark insights, reflection, and connection. The school's specialization in facilitation techniques has led many POV clients to request the facilitation services of our alumni experts to support their work.
