School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution 2019 alumna Oumou Ly

Connecting peacebuilding and public health

Following her graduation in 2019 with a bachelor's degree from the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, Oumou Ly received a Shinnyo Fellowship to examine issues of health equity with D.C. Primary Care Association. Oumou's work explores the links between peace and health equity, with the pandemic now at the center of daily life.

 

Oumou is the fourth S-CAR alum to earn this prestigious fellowship which aims to promote global peace by supporting community-based organizations and educational institutions who are engaging youth in meaningful acts of service.

Tehama Lopez Bunyasi recently co-authored Stay Woke: A People's Guide to Making All Black Lives Matter, with Candis Watts Smith. The scholars use their combined expertise and experiences to lay out a framework for approaching dialogue on racial issues, recognizing one's personal failings, and taking productive steps towards a more racially conscious society.
