Purpose

The George Mason University Alumni Association (GMUAA) selects five alumni for its awards recognizing outstanding professional achievements and service to Mason. The GMUAA selects five nominees for the following awards: Alumnus/a of the Year, Alumni Service Award, Faculty Member of the Year, Senior of the Year, and Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.). This annual event also honors distinguished alumni from colleges/units and alumni chapters.

The History

For more than 30 years, the Alumni Association has celebrated the achievements of Mason alumni at the annual Celebration of Distinction awards program. Originally held in 1975, this program has evolved from a reception honoring four alumni, to become one of the premier Alumni Association functions each year.
